How To Fix Windows Touch Screen

If you windows 8 or windows 10 touch screen stopped working, try this method. This is how I manage to make it work.

  • Connect a mouse to the touch screen device. I use Lenovo Miix 8, and I need to use an OTG adapter. (you can find Micro USB OTG to USB Adapter for less than $5).
  • Go to Windows Explorer or Desktop Right Click on My PC (or This Computer), Select Properties.
  • On the left rail, select Device Manager. (If you are having trouble finding it, just search Device Manager in Windows Search)
  • From Device Manager List, find a category called "Human Interface Devices". Expand it and you should see "I2C HID" Device. Right click on it -> Select Disable -> Click Yes to Confirm. Then Right click -> Select Enable
  • If you still cannot use touch, restart your computer. If your touch starts working again, do not stop here. continue next step to prevent it from stop working in the future.
  • After you restart, go to Device Manager again. Double Click on "I2C HID", Select the right most tab "Power Management", Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power".
  • At this point it should be fine.
